Leadership Update: Summerbridge Executive Transition Announcement

Dear Summerbridge Family, Friends and Supporters

On behalf of the Summerbridge Hong Kong Board of Directors, we are writing to share an important milestone in the history of Summerbridge Hong Kong (香港夏橋). Following a remarkable multi-decade tenure, Shirley Man will be stepping down as Executive Director, handing over the leadership of the organization to Samuel Bleakly toward the beginning of Autumn.

For over twenty-seven years, Shirley Man has served as the heartbeat of Summerbridge Hong Kong. As an extraordinary servant leader, Shirley has individually supported thousands of underprivileged youth across Hong Kong, guiding them through our signature “students teaching students” model to unlock their potential in English communication, relationship building, and leadership.

Welcoming Samuel Bleakly as Executive Director

As we look to the future, we are thrilled to welcome Samuel Bleakly as our incoming Executive Director. Samuel brings a wealth of executive leadership experience, strategic vision, and a deep passion for community impact and educational equity in Hong Kong.

Stepping into this role his priority will be to steward this rich legacy while driving the capacity building, institutional partnerships, and supporting strategic initiatives to sustain Summerbridge’s impact for generations to come.

“I am deeply humbled to step into this role. I view this responsibility as a profound calling, and I look forward to working closely with our staff, board, donors, and partners to ensure that we continue to provide a special place for our students to develop a love of learning.

— Samuel Bleakly, Incoming Executive Director

Samuel, Shirley, and members of the Executive Committee are working in close alignment to ensure a seamless, thoughtful transition as our summer program concludes.

With warm regards,

The Board of Directors
