Who Can Apply?

    Students who are:
    1. Between the ages of 16 and 22, currently attending high school or university;
    2. Able to commit full-time to all program dates;
    3. Comfortable using English (non-native speakers welcome; Cantonese is not a requirement); and
    4. Eager to work with youth (no teaching experience required).

Application Deadline

March 8, 2019 (Extended Deadline) for non-HK citizens
March 15, 2019 (Extended Deadline) for Hong Kong permanent residents

Deadlines vary due to the time needed to obtain visas for non-HK citizens.

2019 Summer Program Dates

Staff Introduction Day: June 15
Administrative Training: June 17 - June 18
Student Teacher Orientation: June 21 - July 2
Classes in Session: July 3 - August 2
Celebration: August 3 - August 4
Evaluation Week: August 5 - August 9

Time: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm (including some Saturdays and public holidays)

Stipend & Subsidy

    HK $6,000 for High School / Secondary School Students

    HK $8,000 for University Students

    To cover basic food and travel expenses incurred while working at Summerbridge, student teachers are provided with a stipend. Housing accommodation and airfare allowance is provided to student teachers with previous Breakthrough or Summerbridge Summer Program experience.
